More About ChiRunning

The ChiRunning program offers a real solution to the high rate of injury that plagues the sport of running. In fact, as Danny Dreyer points out:

More than 24 million people in the U.S. alone run, however 65% of runners in the U.S., 15.6 million people, will have to stop running at least once during the year due to injury. Millions more quit or avoid running because of injury or the fear of causing long-term damage. Yet, there have been few new ideas or fresh approaches to running and injury prevention. The symptoms are being treated, but the problem has not been solved—until now. The ChiRunning program offers a real solution to the high rate of injury that plagues the sport of running.

Working on ChiRunning and ChiWalking postureChiRunning fills the high rate of injury by teaching people bio-mechanically correct running form that is in line with the laws of physics and with the ancient principles of movement found in Tai Chi. ChiRunning technique is based on the same principles and orientation as yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi:

  • working with core muscles;
  • integrating mind and body; and
  • focusing on overall and long term performance and well-being.

Whether you're an injured runner, a beginner runner, a marathon runner, a triathlete, or someone who runs to stay fit, ChiRunning has helped thousands improve their technique, reduce injury and achieve personal goals.

ChiRunning helps reduce and eliminate: shin splints, IT band syndrome, hamstring injury, plantar faciitus, hip problems and the most famous running injury of all: knee injury.

In Danny Dreyer's ChiRunning book you'll find information about: race training, trail running, interval training, and endurance running as well as diet and nutrition for peak performance.

More About ChiWalking

Like ChiRunning, the ChiWalking program is an approach to creating health, fitness and well-being through the activity of walking. ChiWalking blends walking with the inner focuses of Tai Chi, thereby creating balance, strength, and improved cognition in those who practice its form.

Moderate exercise, such as walking or hiking, has improved the health and longevity of millions of people. ChiWalking takes this notion one step forward by transforming walking into an inspirational, mind-body technique.

The Five Mindful Steps are used throughout the ChiWalking program to reinforce the body-mind component inherent in each step:

  1. Getting Aligned - physically with your posture, mentally with your intentions
  2. Engaging Your Core - physically with your lower abdominals, mentally by using your will power
  3. Creating Balance - physically between your upper and lower body and also between the right side and the left side of your body, mentally by creating a balanced fitness program
  4. Making a Choice - physically to walk in a new way, mentally to create health
  5. Moving Forward - physically with grace and ease, mentally by focusing your mind on the next mindful step

These Five Mindful Steps take you through an entire health and fitness program that will leave you energized, and looking forward to each walk or hike.
